The question about having many more girl styles than boys has come up, so I sent Bandai an email, this is what they said.

Thank you for your e-mail, and we appreciate your comments. With all

versions of our Tamagotchis we have various styles that appeal to girls

and boys. We also have several styles that could be chosen either by a

boy or girl.

Any comments?

I've never really noticed. But if I was a boy I'd probably notice alot more. I think the new version 4.5's have more 'boyish' colours I think.

It's probably hard to find designs that suit everyone though - Everyone has different tastes.

They should make a rainbow design.

I think they are meant to be in various styles that appeal to more the one individual. Certain for boys, certain for girls, certain for both.

I think a lot of boys are bothered with the fact that Bandai seems to be making more 'girlish' designs, and girls don't really even notice...

Bandai says they're targeting Tamagotchis toward both genders, though. I think the whole situation is just... Weird. X_x

I think the whole "Rainbow design" would still be considered kind of girly, in some freakish way.
