Part 10-1
'He's in here!' I heard Baines shout over the noise of the tank. It was a green tank with a chugging noise every time it moved. Stumbling out of a storage room in the tank (probably for ammo) I saw has accomplice again. He had the glasses and he stared right at me!
'There he is!' the accomplice yelled. I heard the barmaid evacuating everybody. Calm teenagers and adults stopped eating, drinking and reading newspapers and ran. I wanted to run, but he could see me. Wherever I went, he would follow me. Baines glanced over at Victoria. He blew a kiss to her. Then he noticed she was standing (everybody stood when they heard the tank) next to me.
'Vicky!' he cried, 'Why haven't you killed him yet?' My heart was in my throat. I almost fainted. She picked up a wooden dummy that was beside the till. Baines didn't see her. She whispered to me, 'Go, I'll pretend this is you. Just get out of here, now!' I ran for my life. I ran and ran and heard the shocking sound of gun shots. Was Victoria dead? Had Baines killed her by accident? Find out in Part 10-2
Part 10-2
When I was far enough away from the cafe, I glanced over my shoulder. Almost the whole place had been demolished. The water cooler and sand pit had turned into a soggy wet mess and the neon lighting glowed a horrible orange colour. Then I realised. It wasn't broken. That was a flame! In the time I had spent running, Baines had driven off in his tank. I heard the shrill cry of my girlfriend Victoria. I couldn't stand back and do nothing. Baines may have abandoned her, but I wouldn't. I was going to save her. I ran through piles of rubble, towards the flame. I was about a metre away but I could feel the heat. I took off the jacket I was wearing and used it to cover my face. Recklessly, I ran into the flames. I raised my jacket, to see if I could see Victoria but as I did, it burst into flames. I was all alone. I dropped to the floor and began to crawl into the burning building. I could hear the ear piercing sound of a fire alarm but then I saw her. Victoria. She was ducking underneath a table. I grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the blaze. She wasn't injured or sick. She had survived!
