Are certain characters more likely to be offered to you by the matchmaker at certain times? (V5)

Maybe messing with the time and date could help, I haven´t use the V5´s in quite awhile, not sure.

Doesn't the v5 have the date channel instead of the matchmaker?

I realize that's what you meant... yeah i think the character selection is purely random.
