Chapter TWO
At lunch, everything was quiet. The new girl kept staring at me, I was guessing that she knew who I was. She was watching my every move, so I tried to start a conversation. “So, what’s your name? Mines Aro..” “I know who you are.” She interrupted me. I gave her a blank look, I think my mouth was opened a little bit. How rude of her to interrupt. “You’re a freak you know!” she said. I just sat there, not understanding how this happened. I threw my napkin on the table and ran up the stairs to my bedroom. I think it got quiet when I left. I don’t know, and I don’t want to know either. Kailia, Shayla, and Lilly came after me. I think they asked Ms.Sharon, our head mistress, if they could be excused first. They walked in slowly, and saw me quietly crying into my pillow. They walked over to the side of the bed, and crouched over. “Come on Aroara, your not what they think at all. They just don’t know you like we do, and they just refuse to meet you.” Kalia said. I looked up to she her smiling face looking at me, her hazel eyes and brown hair. Why couldn’t I be her? She smiled at patted my back. Then I put my head back down. I think it was Shayla that bent over to me next, because I could see her black skin and braided hair. “Ara, what they think doesn’t matter. All that matters is who you really are.” Shayla was rubbing my back in a comforting way as she said that. She went to sit down on Lilly’s bed with Lilly and Kailia. Then they started singing the song we made up. The song we sing when were sad. They’re all good at singing, so it was comforting to hear their voices singing that song. They stopped, and Lilly said, “Ara, were going to go finish eating now. If you want to, you can come to. Everyone else is done eating and out in the yard by now.” They left and closed the door slowly behind them. I decided to get up, and I walked over to the mirror hanging above my mirror. I grabed a change of clothes, and decided to go wash up, I didn’t look to good.
After my shower, I walked to Ms.Shannon to tell her what happened. After all was explaind to her, she put her hand on my shoulder and said “Aroara, sweetie, your just different than her. And she doesn’t understand why. Now go outside and play with your friends.” Nodded and headed outside. Kevin and Oliver came to me and put their arms around my shoulders. “Heya. How did it go upstairs?” I laughed at their comments. It’s like they themselves didn’t understand. Then Kevin looked at me, and I looked at him. His blonde hair, and blue eyes. He’s perfect to. All of my friends are perfect. Perfectly normal that is. Then at Oliver, with his brown hair and green eyes. We all started laughing and ran to Lilly, Shayla, and Kailia. We played and played. We started playing hide and go seek, and when I was playing, that girl just kept staring at me. I heard people talking about her, I over heard that her name is Sarah Mackenzie. I just ignored her, but later she saw me running and laughing and ran over to me and pushed me down on the ground. “What you gonna do know you freak?” I got up and brushed myself off. “You want to know what I’m gonna do?” I said. She looked at me and said, “Well no duh.” Then I punched her in the eye and kicked her in the shin. She was laying and the ground. I put my foot on her stomache, looked down at her and said, “That’s what I’m gonna do, freak.” I ran to my friends and they all started cheering me on. I felt to good. Until Ms.Sharon came outside.
