4U worth it without a compatible phone?

I'm eyeing a 4U, since they're patched for English. However, I've read that the features on them are minimal without a compatible phone. I'm short on cash, and can't afford a hacked NFC phone to accompany it. Should I still go for it?

Is the 4U English patch even complete? I think it isn't. So I'd say no. And... you can't get the patch on the 4U without a compatible phone anyway? Unless you find one that's already patched I guess? They're not like that from the factory.

I'd say it isn't. Also language isn't a barrier on any tamagotchi anyway, you don't need to understand what's going on to enjoy it.
