Is anyone else doing the 40 Hour Famine this year? This year's theme is to sponsor World Vision to stop child labour. There are an estimated total of 250 million child labourers in the world currently. That number just shudders me. I could not imagine myself in their situation. YOU can make a difference and it can be as simple as participating in the 40 Hour Famine! :D

Also I need ideas. One of the traditional ideas was to give up technology (e.g. television, computers, mobile phones, etc.) and I think I may do that one. Any more good ideas?

It's not a good idea to starve yourself for 40 hours.

There could be serious health issues.

Please continue conversation from here in this thread, as this one was created first. :)

I did the 40 hour famine once before.. I did it without any furniture for 40 hours. Sometimes I forgot though, and sat down on a lounge, only to quickly get off it about 2 seconds later when I realized what I was doing.

Like I said in the other topic post I couldn't do that my mom would make me eat that or my dad would. But it really isn't healthy to starve yourself.

What many of you seem to be ignoring is that it doesn't have to be food. You can go 40hrs without furniture like Admin did. You can actually (I think) go for much longer than a week without food. However you'll day after around three days without water (in conditions that won't dehydrate you quickly obviously).

I've never heard of the 40 hour famine. Perhaps it doesn't go in my country I don't know. Any way I like the idea of going for 40hrs without technology. Good way of saving power to! :p

I've never heard of it.

I doubt my parents would let me starve myself for about a day and a half if I heard of it anyways :mimitchi:

Well, as many people have said, "it's not healthy to not eat for 40 hours" and actually, it's been proven to be good for some people.

Plus, fasting is just not eating. You can drink as much as you want.

I couldn't do it tho. I have hypoglycemia. Basically, that means I have to have sugars/carbohydrates ever 2-3 hours or I'll pass out, lol. I passed out in science class the day I found out. (not because I found out, but it led to us finding it out.)
