that happened to me too. It happened to my first V2 that i ever had. My first tamagotchi. it did the same thing to mine as it did to yours. But my problem was that it got water on it. And i don't know how but it did. So maybe when they packaged it , it maybe got water on it.

Ok everybody. I know you might be wondering about debugging. I guess. Lol. But I found out a way to Undebug a tamagotchi. ;) Well when you debug you use a pencil. Well i did that tonight on my tamagotchi V4.5. I didn't work out to well. The time went faster then a second. And my tamagotchi...
