Colour LCDs are really not all that expensive, in Japan, new Colour Tamas are generally not that much above £30. Parents are willing to spend £60 on a Furby, so why not £30 on a Tamagotchi? They do a ton more and are -clearly- a lot cheaper. Bandai could produce a b/w tama for about £1, with...

I ran it through Google Translate. So I guess that shed some light on what it is? It seems to only be a deco-pierce, not another two-toned shell. And it seems like a character piece not a change piece. Also has a salon (maybe?).

The vast majority of people who own a Tama-go will tell you they hate the shell. It personally irritates me more than anything because far more complex Tamas such as the P's are nowhere near as big.
