I think one of the CDs is on TamaTown, another may appear in the shop and the third is from a code. I'm not sure which CD can be found in which place though.

By the sounds of things, you keep getting Uhyotchi. To get a different character, try using a different training item and raising the bonding percentage as high as you possibly can.

I think what the v5 needs is some way to make me feel motivated to look after it. I really just felt like I was feeding it a bit and if I wanted to I could play the games, but there wasn't really much point because just feeding snacks had no side effects.

Don't worry, I think everyone who has a v4.5 has that glitch with Ura Yangu Furawatchi/Ura Young Violetchi. That glitch is also on the v4, though it happens to Ichigotchi instead. Your Tamagotchi's base weight is now 0. That's all. Nothing really bad's happened.

Resetting and downloading only works if your Tamagotchi is in the process of dying (not dead yet). When your Tamagotchi is dying, it will be lying face-down with a skull flashing over its head. When your Tamagotchi has departed, an egg with wings will be shown.
