Keep selecting the first option [Play] and they should be able to play with each other. It's random if they play a game or give a gift. You can't use the Propose option with two tamas of the same gender.

I heard that it might be dangerous to marry your tama to the wrong age group. Something about it freezing and needing to reset your tama because it glitches out. Maybe that only happens sometimes? Either way, if the matchmaker brings me a teen or younger, I refuse.

That's really unusual. My 4.5s gladly mate at three years old even when I don't want them to. Just keep connecting them and I think they'll eventually mate.
