No, in fact, the knockoffs are usually needier and beep more often. If you could post a picture of yours I can confirm if its legit or not. But going by what you said - it sounds like yours is one of the recent re-releases of the P1's and P2's.

Huzzah! I fixed the A button on my Dark camo one! But I am still going to switch over to the purple one. It seems that they put too much glue around the A button area inside it. So I just had to wipe the glue of the buttons.
