I'll go with entertainment, but I don't think it will work out very well, unless I'm able to access ALL of the toy's features. If I can't, then It'll be likely I'll lose interest in it.

I would rather have Tamagotchis actually die. On one hand, if he/she dies young, it represents the testament of your failure as a caretaker. On the other hand, if it dies as old as he/she can be, then it will represent that the life he/she had has been well lived, and he/she can finally...
