Mine do the same thing, it's normal. It's ticking/beeping because of the internal clock. (it lines up with the heart animation/Tama movement)

Went to Gamestop & Walmart yesterday, didn't have any minis. :/ My friend who works at BB told me they'll be stocking them on the 12th for anyone planning to go there. (not sure how true that is for other locations)
