Hi everyone,
I’ve just found myself getting back into Tamas at 36 and I’m finding it such a balm for the soul.
I loved them in the late 90s when they were big and they’ve always been something I’ve had fond memories of.
I bought a Connect v4 back in 2008 and ran it for a few days then life got in the way. I found the little guy recently and after I couldn’t get him to work I have sent him to a specialist to see if he can be repaired.
Back when I was a kid I had a Giga Pet dog first before getting a P1 Tama. I later added a P2, Angel, T-Rex Giga and others I can’t remember to my collection. I also had a Dragotti I bought from a shopping mall but I remember this broke and never properly ran.
Sadly, I have no idea where my old collection went as it was so long ago. I have a theory that they could be in my parents garage, but the likelihood of me finding them is slim.
However, I’ve been rebuilding my collection recently. My dog of 13 years died a few weeks ago and the grief of this utterly floored me. My little Tama project has actually been a nice distraction from that and my stressful job as a reporter. I actually work in gaming journalism so Tamas feel connected to this.
My first dog Giga Pet was bought for me as a gift from my late grandfather (died many years ago) so in honour of him and my late dog Loki, I bought the new version of that Giga Pet and am currently running it.
My love for the Digimon franchise and the recent release of the Connection also motivated me to return to this hobby. I wasn’t aware there was such a passionate community but it’s nice to see.
Okay, so since I decided to recreate my collection I’ve gone an bit overboard on eBay and Amazon. So far I’ve picked up:
- Giga Pet dog
- Tamagotchi P1 re-release
- Tamagotchi P2 re-release
- Tamagotchi Connect re-release
- OG P1
- OG P2
- Tama Angel
- Connection v1
- Connection v2
- Connection v3
- Connection v5
- Dragotti - let’s see if this one lasts!
- Digimon X
Currently running the Giga dog and the Connection re-release. Looking forward to doing a run with each!
