A better wa to "pause" is to change the time to when it's asleep. Then he's paused, and aging at the same time. This could also help you get good characters!

Hold A+B and you will be paused. But while this is paused, the tama is aging, a better way to pause, is to set the clock to a time when your tamagotchi would be asleep.

Putting your tamagotchi on Pause a lot will make your chances of getting a gozarutchi, or maskitchi, pretty high.

If you want to get a character like a Memetchi, or Leafitchi, put the tamagotchi to sleep while at school.

But, you can always bring your tamagotchi to school, and put it in your locking (While it is sleeping)

And check on it at lunch breaks, unless tamagotchis are banned at your school, then leave it at home.
